What this site is
Emvela is an independent editorial site covering personal wellness products and the everyday habits around them: materials and safety, buying online, and general wellbeing. It is written for adults aged 18 and over.
We are not a shop. We do not sell products, and we do not accept payment in exchange for a favourable review. If that ever changes, it will be stated on the page it applies to, in plain language, above the fold.
How we source what we publish
Every guide is put together from primary material wherever possible:
- Manufacturer documentation — material data sheets, safety documentation, care instructions and warranty terms.
- Published standards — for example the material-safety and labelling frameworks that consumer goods are assessed against in the EU, the UK and North America.
- Peer-reviewed literature — mainly for the human side of the subject: stress, sleep, body image and relationship communication.
- Regulator and consumer-body guidance — recall notices, certification registries and published consumer advice.
Where a claim rests on a single small study, we say so. Where the evidence is mixed, we say that too, rather than resolving it into a confident sentence the literature does not support. Where we simply do not know, we write that we do not know.
What we do not do
- We do not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. If you have a health concern, speak to a qualified healthcare professional.
- We do not publish explicit imagery. This is a text-led reference site.
- We do not publish content aimed at anyone under 18.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, we want to know. Write to [email protected] with the page address and what you believe is incorrect. Substantive corrections are made to the article itself; where the change affects the conclusion, we note that the article was updated and when.
Editorial independence
Our editorial team decides what gets published. Commercial relationships, if we ever enter any, do not carry the right to review or approve editorial copy before publication, and do not carry the right to have critical material removed afterwards.
